The Department of Defense’s National Center for Telehealth and Technology has just unveiled a new video game intended to help soldiers and their loved ones learn about post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) in an anonymous online setting. The game, which is called the T2Virtual PTSD Experience, is accessed through the free virtual reality platform Second Life. Players navigate through scenarios in virtual settings (such as a shopping mall) that may be uncomfortable in real life for people with PTSD. The program also includes information on how to cope with PTSD and how to find professional help.
